HIGH PRESSURE ABRASIVE WATERJET CUTTING

Waterjet technology uses an ultra-high pressure stream of water, forced through a tiny cutting nozzle, to cut through nearly any material including soft materials such as foam and paper. When an abrasive agent, such as crushed garnet is added to the ultra-high pressure stream, hard materials such as stone, marble, granite, metals, plastics, glass and carpets can be cut with a perfectly smooth edge.

Virtually any shape or design can be cut with high-pressure waterjet technology. Highly detailed designs or simpler block designs both lend themselves easily to the computer-controlled water-jet cutting process. Finished edges are satin smooth with little or no need for further finishing.

Because the process uses cold water there is no heat distortion or mechanical stress on finished pieces.

Waterjet cutting is one of the greenest technologies available today. Neither water nor the garnet used in abrasive cutting are toxic or hazardous in any way. Used water can be filtered and recycled or disposed down a drain. The small amount of garnet waste is likewise non-hazardous.

No noxious gases or liquids are used in, or are a by-product of waterjet cutting. Waterjets do not produce dust, fumes, smoke or other airborne contaminants.

Perhaps the most "green" aspect of abrasive waterjet cutting is the reduced substrate waste. Parts can be nested to minimize material waste and lower overall project costs. Additional parts finishing is typically not needed, eliminating secondary operations to achieve that PERFECT EDGE.

FULL CAD CAPABILITIES

Perfect Edge has full Computer-Aided Design services to complement the high-pressure water-jet cutting process. If the design to be cut requires CAD work, designers are on staff to meet the needs of the customer. Provide a picture and dimensional specs for a design, and leave the rest to Perfect Edge!

MACHINE CAPABILITIES AND TOLERANCES

Perfect Edge can readily handle materials up to 6 ft x 12 ft and weighing no more than 10,000 Lbs. Material can be up to 8" thick.
